Flag Day in Pakistan

August 11 is Flag Day in Pakistan. On August 10, 1947, the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan was held for the first time. The next day,  president Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was elected and the flag approved.

The countries of Pakistan and India legally came into existence at midnight on 14–15 August 1947. Political, religious, and ethnic division are no stranger to the Indian sub-continent. Sri Lanka separated from India in 1948 and Bangladesh separated from Pakistan in 1971.
