World Ranger Day is celebrated worldwide on July 31st t to celebrate Rangers’ work in conservation and to commemorate Rangers killed or injured in the line of duty
The day is sponsored by The International Ranger Federation. The IRF was founded on July 31, 1991 with an agreement between Rangers in England, Whales, Scotland and the United States. From that time, it has grown to 90 Ranger associations from over 50 countries on six continents.
The goals of the agreement were to provide a global forum for Rangers to share their successes and failures and to promote the exchange of information and technology from countries in which protected area management enjoys broad public and government support to countries in which it is less supported.
It also works closely with The Thin Green Line Foundation, the charity arm of the Federation that supports the widows of Rangers. You can see the film here.
