May 14 is the Feast Day of Saints Victor and Corona, second century Christian martyrs. Victor was a Roman soldier who was tortured and killed for being a Christian. Corona, a young girl who tried to comfort him, was also killed for her efforts.
Corona is especially venerated in Austria and Bavaria, and there is a chapel dedicated to her near Munich. She is associated with superstitions involving money, such as gambling and treasure hunting and some invoke her for support of the world economy during the current pandemic.

These panels of Victor and Corona were effectuated by the Master of the Palazzo Venezia Madonna of Italy (c. 1350) currently hang in the National Gallery of Denmark.
